Corefig for Hyper-V 2012

I have updated the scripts from Core Configurator 2.0 so that it can run on the 2012 editions of Windows Server and Hyper-V. The download is available on CodePlex. Details about the release are available on the Altaro blog.

Altaro 3.5 Releases with Support for Hyper-V 2012

Altaro has updated version 3 of their Hyper-V backup software to include support for Hyper-V 2012. To the best of my knowledge, they’re the first to do that. It also sports an updated interface, several enhancements, and some bug fixes. Download from their site.

Review of Altaro Backup for Hyper-V

UPDATE: This review is for version 2. I have posted a review of version 5.

I acquired a trial copy of Altaro Backup for Hyper-V, which enables all features for 30 days. The version I tested is 2.1.2.0. You can find its product pages and download links here. The super-short version of my review: this product has a lot of potential and would be a good choice for single-host systems run by small IT departments, but needs some more time to bake for anything larger.

I’ve noticed from the query hits against the master install document that it isn’t obvious how to access these tools. Read more of this post

Managing Snapshots

Snapshots are a fantastic tool, but Hyper-V will require you to perform some minor maintenance. It isn’t difficult work at all, but you do need to be aware of it.
